Date 6/8/2019 Dutch delegation with the Dutch Consulat and expert, in Cashew & branding field.
Vietnam is the major exporter of cashew nuts in the world. Estimates are that Vietnam represents about 50% of global cashew nut sales by value (globally USD 5.5B). The Province of Binh Phuoc, Vietnam, is the major cashew producing area in Vietnam, responsible for more than half of the Vietnamese share.
The cashew sales of Vietnam have grown very quickly over the last few years. In spite of the high growth rate of the Vietnamese cashew sector it faces difficulties to increase the overall financial return. Some of the problems; • Decreased productivity and production areas in Vietnam • The dependence on raw materials imported from African countries • The lack of an expressive brand for Binh Phuoc grown cashew • Inability to obtain premium pricing for the produce The Provincial Authorities believe there is an opportunity to increase the value of its produce through improvements in all aspects of the supply chain and in particular through the branded marketing of its domestic produce. The Province of Binh Phuoc has therefore called on external expertise to support its efforts to analyse the supply chain of the cashew industry, support it building a brand, advice the Province on ways to improve important aspects of the cashew production and its marketing
